Weerts Charleroi

In Charleroi, Bosschaert was responsible for all earthworks and site preparation for a large-scale industrial park. During this project, hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of soil were moved and leveled to prepare the site for construction and lay the foundation for an impressive industrial development.

In addition to the scale of the work, sustainability was a key priority. To transport 200,000 m³ of soil, we made maximum use of shipping via the Sambre river. This approach kept approximately 12,000 truck trips off the road, resulting in a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions and traffic congestion.

An efficient and environmentally conscious approach was also chosen for the site itself. Using our mobile concrete plant, we produced concrete directly on-site, which avoided another 1,800 transport trips. Furthermore, the raw materials for concrete production were also delivered by water.

During execution, special attention was also paid to the surrounding environment. Specific measures were taken to protect a rare toad species on the site, including the installation of toad fencing and weekly monitoring. The project's sustainable approach also aligns with BREEAM-NL certification, which sets high standards for environmental impact and sustainable construction.
